Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, Performing Arts or related field preferred; equivalent professional music qualifications may be considered.
Relevant music teaching certificate, performance qualification or recognised music training strongly preferred.
At least 1–2 years of experience teaching music to young children, preschool or primary students preferred.
Strong practical musicianship in at least one instrument and/or vocal performance.
Ability to teach singing, rhythm, movement and basic instrumental activities to young children.
Good spoken English preferred, especially if English is used as the teaching language.
Creative, patient, energetic and comfortable working with young children.
Preferred: ECCD/early-childhood training, child safeguarding training, First Aid/CPR and private/international-school experience.

Job Descriptions

Music Teaching & Learning

Plan and deliver interactive, creative and age-appropriate music sessions for children approximately 4–5 years old.
Introduce basic musical concepts including rhythm, beat, tempo, dynamics, pitch, listening and musical expression through play and movement.
Use singing, body percussion, movement, simple instruments and age-appropriate musical games to encourage participation.
Select or create songs and activities appropriate to children’s developmental stage and the preschool curriculum.
Adapt activities for different abilities, confidence levels and learning needs.
Encourage creativity, confidence, cooperation, listening skills and enjoyment of music rather than focusing only on technical performance.
Maintain simple records of participation and children’s musical development where required.

Classroom Management & Child Safety

Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed music learning environment.
Maintain active supervision of children throughout music sessions.
Use safe, age-appropriate instruments and equipment.
Teach children appropriate handling, storage and sharing of instruments.
Follow Sirius safeguarding, health and safety and emergency procedures.
Immediately report accidents, injuries, safeguarding concerns or unusual incidents to the principal.

School Events & Performances

Support age-appropriate performances, assemblies, celebrations and school events.
Plan and rehearse simple musical performances with children where appropriate.
Coordinate with classroom Teachers and the Principal regarding event requirements.
Ensure performance activities remain developmentally appropriate and do not place unnecessary pressure on young children.

Collaboration & Professional Development

Work closely with classroom Teachers and Assistant Teachers to connect music activities with classroom learning.
Participate in relevant staff meetings, school events and professional-development activities.
Provide recommendations on age-appropriate instruments, music resources and basic music-room/classroom requirements.
Maintain professional communication, confidentiality and positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
