Job Requirement
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering from an accredited university. A Master’s degree or professional registration (e.g., Registered Engineer, Myanmar Engineering Council) is preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of post-graduate experience in MEP design, with at least 10 years in a managerial role responsible for large-scale construction or commercial projects.
• Fluency in English (oral and written) is mandatory.
• Proven experience in mixed-use, high-rise, or luxury residential developments, similar in scale to this project.
• Demonstrable experience managing external design consultants and coordinating complex MEP systems (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, ELV) .
• In-depth knowledge of MEP design principles, local and international codes, and statutory compliance in Myanmar.
• Proficiency in design and coordination software: AutoCAD, Revit MEP (essential for BIM coordination), and other relevant tools like MS Office, ETAP, or Dialux.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Technically strong and commercially astute with a “manager” mindset
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
Job Descriptions
• Manage the design process from concept through to detailed design and construction, ensuring alignment with project brief, budget, and programme.
• Procure, appoint, and manage external MEP design consultants. Review and approve their design deliverables, specifications, and calculations to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance.
• Facilitate coordination between MEP systems and architectural, structural, and infrastructure designs. Chair design review meetings and resolve clashes and interface issues.
• Ensure all MEP designs adhere to the Myanmar National Building Code, local government regulations (e.g., submissions to Yangon City Development Committee), and relevant international standards.
• Lead value engineering and design optimization exercises to enhance cost-efficiency, sustainability, and constructability without compromising quality or performance.
• Directly manage, mentor, and supervise the in-house team of MEP design engineers. Assign tasks, conduct performance reviews, and identify training needs.
• Develop and implement a strategy to transition design work in-house, leveraging the small internal team for more design and review tasks over time.
• Provide expert technical guidance and support to the internal team, resolving complex design challenges.
• Lead the review of shop drawings, material submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure compliance with design intent and contract requirements.
• Identify and manage technical risks associated with MEP design, ensuring all issues are resolved and closed out in a timely manner.
• Monitor the MEP design schedule, ensuring key milestones are met and reporting progress to project leadership.
• Provide technical support to the site team during the construction, testing, and commissioning phases to ensure the design intent is maintained.
